About K1 Speed Thousand Oaks
Thousand Oaks sits in the hills northwest of Los Angeles, serving a wealthier demographic that might otherwise drive 45 minutes to track time in the city. K1 Speed's indoor facility fits the upscale-casual vibe of the area, with clean operations and efficient management. Electric karts and a tight course design mean racing feels competitive even at moderate speeds. Corporate teams and family celebrations dominate the booking calendar, though walk-in racers always find space during slower hours. The location pulls from a substantial local population plus visitors heading to Malibu or Point Mugu. Weather hardly matters in Southern California, so the facility runs consistently full year-round. The crowd tends slightly more mature than at some K1 locations, with parents bringing kids rather than high school groups racing against each other. It's the convenient option for Ventura County residents avoiding the Los Angeles traffic puzzle.

My kids had so much fun racing the karts. Heck so did I. You feel like you are going so so fast. Great experience and fun time. Staff was amazing and can’t be happier with them

We came here for our company holiday party. There was 16 of us. They made sure everything was ready for us when we arrived from Santa Barbara. The staff was so nice and helpful. The only thing I would make any complaints about was the food quality but also we did throw in a huge amount of food all at once, and it might have crushed the kitchen Overall really fun time and everybody in the group is so fired up for it. Most people in my group are over the age of 27 ranging to like 55 and we still had a blast. The go karts definitely go fast and two people in our group struggled from a slight motion sickness. You also leave with a sore body. 😂 It’s like the real deal Definitely recommend it

K1 Speed in Newbury Park can be a really fun spot if you hit it at the right time, but timing is everything here. My biggest issue is how crowded it gets on the weekends. The place is packed, and the wait times can get painfully long, which takes a lot of the fun out of it. You end up spending more time waiting around than actually racing. Another downside is that the go-karts aren’t very consistent. Some clearly perform better than others, which makes it a little frustrating when you’re trying to have a fair race and you happen to get stuck in a slower kart. That said, my best advice is to go on a weeknight. It’s way less busy, the flow is smoother, and you’ll have a much better overall experience. When it’s not overcrowded, it’s a blast. Overall, it’s a cool place with a lot of potential—just plan your visit wisely.

What an incredibly disappointing experience. The K1 website clearly states that for the Tuesday night Grand Prix event you must arrive at 6:00 PM to sign up, with no other way to register. I followed those exact instructions and brought my 7-year-old son in from out of town specifically to participate in what we thought would be a special event. When we arrived right at 6:00 PM, as the website instructed, we were told the event was already full. I explained that we followed the rules exactly as posted online and asked if there was anything that could be done. The manager, Cameron, offered no solutions and instead told me that their location doesn’t really follow the rules listed on the K1 website because they are “popular,” and that I should know that for next time. That response was incredibly frustrating. If the website instructions are inaccurate, they should be corrected so families aren’t misled. My son was extremely upset and started crying on the spot after being told he couldn’t participate in the event we drove there for. It turned what was supposed to be a fun night into a very disappointing experience, and unfortunately it left him not wanting to come back. K1 should make sure its locations follow the rules they publish online, or update the information so customers aren’t set up to fail.
